SBSi and TV 2 will jointly finance the development of a documentary project with a view to possible co-production contingent upon a final treatment, creative team and budget being appropriate for both broadcasters.
The SBSi and TV 2 Pitch and Punt will be held on Thursday 24 February 2005 at the AIDC.
The winning pitch will receive a combined development investment deal of up to AUD$10,000 from SBSi and up to US$6,000 from TV2.

Guidelines
Because of SBSi's funding regulations all production teams will need to be Australian residents or to involve an Australian co-production partner.
The Pitch and Punt competition is open to projects at concept stage only.
The Brief
TV 2 and SBSi are calling for proposals for documentaries with relevance to Danish and Australian audiences which focus on hard hitting controversial and compelling international stories dealing with topical social, political and ethical issues. Character driven stories will be particularly welcome and essay style projects will also be considered. (Examples of previous Australian work that would have been suitable include: Dying to Leave and The President Versus David Hicks)
Projects may be a
- a one-off 52' documentary, or
- a 2 x 52' series
and will be suitable for an Australian television Mature Audience "M" classification. The programs will be suitable for SBS's Cutting Edge Documentary strand and for TV2's Monday 10.50pm Documentary strand or one of the twelve annual Hot Doks slots which also run at 10.50pm.
How To Apply

- a one-liner synopsis
- a one paragraph to one page synopsis, and
- no more than one page of personnel and contact details

Notification of Successful Applicants
SBSi and TV 2 will short-list four projects that will be pitched at the AIDC.
The short list will be announced on Thursday 10th February and will be posted on the AIDC website and on the SBSi website www.sbs.com.au/sbsi
If Your Application is Successful
If short listed, you must be registered for the AIDC in order to pitch.
Short listed applicants are invited to attend an AIDC pitch training session on Sunday February 20th 2005.
Each pitch will be for a maximum of 8 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of questions and discussion from the panel.
The panel of judges will be:
- Ned Lander (Senior Commissioning Editor, Documentary, SBSi)
- Mette Hoffman Meyer (Commissioning Editor TV2 Denmark)
- Matt Campbell (Head of Programming, SBS-TV)
The winner of the development funding will be announced at the final lunch of the AIDC, on Thursday 24 February 2005.
