| | 9th AIDC. Fremantle, Western Australia. 26-28 February 2004. At the AIDC you can network, finance your next project and participate in challenging and inspirational debate about documentary making. Journey to where the sand and sea meet … The Australian International Documentary Conference is heading back to Western Australia and will take place in Fremantle from 26-28 February 2004. 2004 will see AIDC become a firm fixture on the annual screen event calendar. The three-day conference will incorporate dynamic sessions, provide a forum for debate, screenings and masterclasses, and offer a marketplace for documentary productions. The picturesque backdrop of Fremantle harbour and its laid-back atmosphere will provide perfect opportunities for networking and discussion, bringing together documentary filmmakers, producers and key industry representatives from across the world. John Beaton has recently been appointed the 2004 Conference Creative Director and will use the expertise he gained through working as the Development Officer at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, to produce an exciting conference program with a line up of high-profile speakers. John will join Philip Bird, Manager for Corporate Affairs and Sponsorship, and the 2004 Western Australian Local Committee – Alan Carter, Tania Chambers, Andrew Ogilvie, Richard Sowada, Mick Broderick and Celia Tait – in creating a dynamic conference program. AIDC 2004 will explore the theme of ‘The Journey'. For the documentary maker the theme is two-fold. From its humble beginnings documentary has evolved, incorporating new technologies, styles and mediums along the way. In addition, each documentary production is a journey for the individual filmmaker, learning more about its subject, contemporary theory, craft skills and marketplace demands. ScreenWest, the Western Australian film funding and development agency, will host AIDC 2004 and encourages you to mark it in your diary now!
